Why was Project Lantern chosen as the brand?

The term "lantern" can be used more generically to mean a light source, or the enclosure for a light source, even if it is not portable. The word lantern comes via French from Latin lanterna meaning "lamp, torch,". 

In some cultures lanterns can symbolize the people letting go of their past selves and getting new ones, which they will let go of the next year. The lanterns are almost always red to symbolize good fortune.

A popular activity at this festival is guessing lantern riddles. These often contain messages of good fortune, family reunion, abundant harvest, prosperity and love.
